How close to the house?
Each planning overlay lets you clear vegetation close to a building without that overlay's permit, out to a set distance. Your block can sit under more than one overlay, and other rules can still apply, so check your property report before anything is cut.
- 2 m
- Vegetation within 2 m of a building. The townships (Belgrave, Upwey, Tecoma, Monbulk, Mount Evelyn, Montrose), the erosion overlay (Kalorama, Sassafras, The Patch, Macclesfield), and Knox's overlays at The Basin and Upper Ferntree Gully.
- 4 m
- Vegetation within 4 m of a building. The ranges core: Olinda, Kallista, Kalorama, Sassafras, Belgrave Heights, Belgrave South and Mount Dandenong.
- 6 m
- Vegetation within 6 m of a home, on a lot under 0.4 ha. Cardinia's hills: Emerald, Cockatoo, Gembrook, Clematis and Avonsleigh.
- 10 m
